“Dead broke in 2004, I stretched my meager income with multiple visits to the local food bank. Remembering that hard work and money often remain incongruent, I collected site recordings, interviews, and surreptitious microphone captures into my testimony of poverty, Wallingford Food Bank.” -Christopher DeLaurenti

Just discovered this excellent blog, Speechification, which archives quality radio that people may have missed or want to hear again. There’s plenty of things I think readers around here would enjoy. Including a typically wonderful outing by Chris Watson, Water Song, narrated with his infectious enthusiasm, in the same spirit as his pieces for Touch Radio. Also, Hearts, Lungs and Minds by John Wynne, a very moving audio documentary from a heart and lung transplantation centre. A much shorter version of this piece appeared on Gruenrekorder’s Autumn Leaves compilation. Another fascinating listen from the same series of programmes is Philip Tagney and Felix Carey’s Symphonies of Wind Turbines, billed as a “sonic meditation on wind turbines”. Enjoy!
Jeremy Bible & Jason Henry - Marker (CD-R) (Gruenrekorder)
Greta Hoheisel & Norbert Lang - Bukarest | Bucureşti – fragmente (CD + Book) (Gruenrekorder / MitOst Editionen)
